Can you use Paypal on amazon?

Paypal is a payment platform that is currently being used in more than 200 countries. Numerous ecommerce stores have incorporated the payment method into their system. However, the story is a little different with Amazon.

Technically, you can use PayPal on Amazon for purchases. However, there are certain steps you have to take since Amazon does not directly accept payments through PayPal. You can either use a PayPal cash card, PayPal key or gift cards.

PayPal Cash Card

If you have a personal PayPal account, you can submit a request for a PayPal cash card – which is basically a debit card for making online transactions. If you have a business account, there is a PayPal business debit mastercard that you can get as well. Both cards can allow you to pay with PayPal on Amazon.

The cards are free and can also be used to withdraw money from an ATM. However, you need to meet the following conditions to be eligible for a PayPal cash card:

  • Have no outstanding issue
  • Have a contact number linked with the account
  • Have a confirmed address
  • Have confirmed your social security number and birth date

PayPal Key

PayPal key is another way you can pay on Amazon. It is a virtual credit card that can be used to make purchases. However, the option is available to some personal and business account holders. So, if you see the option in your PayPal account, you can follow the steps to order a key.

Gift Cards

If you cannot get a PayPal key or cash card, you can make your purchases using a gift card. That is, you can buy Amazon gift cards with your PayPal account, and then use them to buy something off the ecommerce platform. 

You will have to add the gift card to your account before buying anything, since the option might not be present on the checkout screen. To redeem your gift card bought through PayPal credit:

    1. Go to Your Account after logging into Amazon
    2. Select the Apply a Gift Card to Your Account option

 

  • Enter the code and select the option to apply to Your Balance

 

While Amazon does not directly use PayPal, you can use the above methods to make purchases with your PayPal credit. The cash card and PayPal key are hassle free options that you can go for. However, it obviously takes time to get your cards delivered. On the other hand, the gift cards require a little more effort, since you have to buy them and then use them with your account. Nevertheless, even if there is no direct way, you can use PayPal on Amazon.
